Google Wave seems like a a version of the iGoogle home page dressed up with Google Docs functionality for real time collaboration - going mainstream will require a significant shift in how people approach document collaboration.

I'm not sure at the moment. Depends on what you expect people to use it for in the end, I don't think it'll be adopted for everything as Google seems to want, but I'm pretty sure it'll get a lot of use by the people who need better collaboration and planning tools. For web conferences you should try http://www.showdocument.com , Great for online teaching and collaborating. I use it for working on my designs with other in my field. Its free and pretty simple - you just upload your file and invite others to view it together. - Laura W.

I think the confusion surrounding google wave is slowing it's adoption almost as much as the invite only status, but much like GMail invites, it will improve.

Yeah I agree with you. I usually describe it as a document collaboration tool best used when working on a project (personal or professional) with a group of people.
I don't think it will become mainstream either, but I do think it will still become a popular and well used tool over the next years.
